Hey guys just wondering if any of you'd are running on e85 if so how much is a drum and the avalibilty of getting the stuff reason for asking is I was at my fabricators work shop and seen a r32 drift car running a rb25det with a 35r 6 boost manifold, greddy copy plenum,44mm tial gate,750cc injectors, apexi fc, and a set of pon cams making 470rwhp on 16psi with stock internals I was just amazed of how much more power they pulled out
of it and that was keeping it safe as it's a drift car also if your running on e85 can you only run e85 or would it be possible to have a street tune for 98 and flick between both ??? Any info would be great as I'm now weighing up what fuel to run ???
NOTE I'm asking this in the WA section as I want to know what it's like using e85 in wa as we don't have it on pump and it's not as not just a matter of pullin in to a servo

davo get on antilag and read a thread by a bloke called simon and his r32. rb25 running a 50/50 mix of bp98 and e85. massive power, basic mods, tuned by allstar, ran a 11.03? on ET streets and got kicked off the strip.
uses something like 30% more fuel than pump gas and you need the hardware to support it but you can smash heaps more timing into it which is where you get your gains from.

Iv been running it for over a year now, an get drums for about 550. Really depends on what sorta power u wanna make if u want a e85 an pump tune. Running 1500cc inj dont allow u to run pump fuel, but your going to need something along those lines if your looking 30psi+. Im just running 2 044's and 800hp external pump, seems to be doing the job. i went over the top coz lets face it u will always want more power. It drops octane fairly quick so try an get a drum an use it, helps if u have another car running it. As said already the car will run cooler, thats why your able to run higher boost an play with the timing = more power. Cold starts are a prick, an your rubber fuel lines can turn to jelly if u let it sit or to long.
But yeh good times

18-09-11, 22:23 GMT+10#12 If your max boost lvl is gonna be 20psi then 900cc plus should do the trick an then u will be able to have 2 tunes, one e85 an the other on 98ron. Just dont go over 1200cc's an i think u should be fine. As for the fuel going to jelly, im yet to see it first hand on my car but have seen it on others so just be mindful of it.

18-09-11, 22:40 GMT+10#13 Could also get 20psi on 98... Sure it's not exactly the same as e85 or a mix of ethanol and petrol.
So many benefits of e85 though, however I'm going to make a few quick points, not saying don't do it, just saying think about it more.
You won't go as far on a tank for obvious reasons.
You'd have serious issues getting more than 450rwhp down on street tyres, eg on the street.
Storing fuel at home is illegal, if it goes up in flames you will void insurance.
The fuel goes off as mentioned.
Also goes off in the lines.
If you are going racing and want more Ron why not skip e85 and get roo/c 16?
Either way, you'll get better power yeah, but think it through.

21-09-11, 20:57 GMT+10#17 hahaha cant beleive people think your car wont idle properly with this size injector or wont do that with that size injector. its not the injector its the tuner, we run 4xindy blue 1600cc injectors on 13b turbo engines on pump fuel no cold start problems no idle problems, also seen a street series 8 rx7 with 8 indy blue injectors on e85 with out a single coldstart/cruze/idle drama. ive seen at least 8 or 9 cars get dyno in the east on e85 for street use ranging from evo lancers, to r34gtrs s6 rx7s, not one of them had cold start problems, most ran indy blue/white injectors some had 900cc some had 1000cc. the tuner should be able to a proper job and youll have no dramas,
