Ike Botfield you would find the shell with the 202was most prob a vk not vl very close in shape.... the last true holden 6 was made in the vk then vl had the nissan rb30 for 6 still had a 304 5ltr v8 holden in vl then the vn had the buick v6 3.8 till the end of vy when they brang out the alloytech 3.6 v6 and they stoped the good old 5ltr in vt.

Robert Howe To clear things up Holden actually wanted to target a more diverse market of buyers in Australia which at the time was a difficult time for Australian's to convert a carby motor to a unknown more reliable fuel motor which is the reason HOLDEN resorted to nissan as the fuel injection range they had the time was more advanced the the Australian market. So Holden become a partnership with nissan to sell RB30et a6 block ( Na Motors) also in R31 Nissan Skylines then the VL turbo with had the more powerful 130kws RB30det (turbo) motor A8 block. Series 1 and 2 RB30 motors were changed between 1987 and 1988 between the change over with the turbo blocks. They created every block after 1987 a series 2 turbo ready block as it was more viable to sell the turbo ready model made a NA motor due to labor. In in1986 to 1988 during the period of the VL commodore New Zealand Country ordered a cetain amount of cars which they were found overpowered in the Rb30 model here in OZ so in NZ nissan created them them the smaller underpowered Rb20 (2 Litre) Model which today is still allowed to be imported to Australia. The VL commodore is the most popular car made by Holden in my view ( due to the fact of performance and style/looks sake).. My input Cheers Rob
