Your car is a Holden SL/Executive Commodore Sedan From the factory it was equipped with the Non-Turbo Nissan RB30E producing 114kw at the flywheel. It was produced in 1988 at the Adelaide plant spewing

Does it matter if it's not genuine Calais... Really? If it's had a full interior and exterior trim conversion to Calais then it'd take looking at the numbers for most people to pick up on it... That said, if you don't know much about VL's and it just has a Calais nose which led you to believe it was a Calais and the bloke said it was a Calais, then yeah I'd be pretty p*ssed too.

don't stress to much. get some pictures up and let us help you assess the situation. a clean mockup is still fine. doesn't matter if its genuine. if anything you will feel worse modding it if it is genuine.

Yeah, just keep it and do what you'd like to it, the genuine calais/turbo cars are better kept in mint condition, and the lower spec models upgraded and modified! If i had a matching numbers car i wouldnt want to screw with it

I completely agree with the last 2 comments above. If it's not a genuine calais you can really do what ever you want with it and modify/paint/swap engines/interior, what ever you want without feeling bad about stuffing with a immaculate genuine calais. A vl is a vl really, as long as it is in reasonable condition i wouldnt worry about it. It's not like he modified a calais front and slapped it onto a holden camira lol. ---------- Post added 08-09-11 at 20:12 ---------- oh yeah dont strip it that would be really stupid. if you arent happy with it sell it complete and buy what you want. too many vl's get stripped and the shells end up at scrap.

Yeah , I wouldn't care these days , I think the VL's , particularly with the R33 Skyline motors bolted into them offer good quality , they seem to put some of the later Nissans to shame , I mean , I get worried when I hear a metallic sound come from a gearbox under load in the latest model Nissan Navara when it's only got 84,000 kms on the odometer. If I owned a company with these vehicles , I'd wanna be checking the fluid levels because one company I worked for , well, a bloke had a brand new Hilux which had a low level or no oil in the gearbox. I'd want to rule that out to make sure it's not the cars fault , though I am concerned with that Navara where the bonnet doesn't close properly.

DUZ10S was one of the greatest looking 'calais' but it was originally a BT1... I dont think anyone cared though.
