Hey guys, Ive been on CT for a while now but ive never bothered putting anything up about my car and now i think cos its being built its time to start a thread! So here goes.. I bought the car earlier this year from a friend of mine, the car was his dads who had upgraded to a new car 6 years ago and it had just been sitting there in the garage doing nothing! The car was a genuine 1 owner Berlina and i got it for a grand total of $1500. This is how it looked the day after i bought it I bought the car as a autospatic, so after 2 days i had found everything i needed to convert it to manual, including a fairly tame 750KG button clutch.. I dont really have any photo's of the gearbox or the conversion i was too busy just trying to get it in! But its just got a MF5 from a N/A VL in there ATM.. Here's the interior though.. The next thing i wanted to do was get rid of them god awful statesman rims! So I look around and i ended up finding some VE 16's, machined them out and at first i left them black until i could get some time to give them a coat of paint and bought some trims which were the hardest thing to make stay on! Ended up putting a bead of silicon on them to stop them flying off! Ended up painting the rims and getting some centre caps which made them look 1 million times better! This photo you can really see how dark i got the windows tinted, to me a car without tint just doesnt look right Of course when i put the manual in i ended up putting 4.11's and mini spool in the diff, which had a very adverse affect of my wheel studs :\ Ended up fixing that with some new stud's and a grinder... But i was sick of the drum brakes and i was starting to make a habit of snapping 25 spline axles.. Ended up having to weld a rod to the snapped end to get it out So I looked around for a while and a mate of mine pointed a VL V8 BT1 for wrecking so i contacted the guy and ended up paying $220 for a complete disc to disc diff assembly with handbrake cables and everything along with the V8 master cylinder and booster.. So i bought a new mini spool and wacked that and the 4.11's back in... My mate works in a machine shop as an engineer so a few saturdays were spent at his shop making little fiddly bits and stuff for the coming turbo conversion.. We ended up relocating the battery to the boot to make way for the big radiatior overflow to replace the cracked ****ty old one! We also cut out the old wheel well that was wrecked and replace it with some flat sheet metal to make way for the surge tank and fuel pump bracket. The reason it was all cut out.. Ended up getting bored 1 weekend and decided to paint my bars Asteroid Silver.. Which turned out as an epic fail, turned out **** and i hate the colour one day i'll put them back to MX grey like they are sposed to be.. Here's a comparison Before: After: And here's some shots of the VX SS mags i borrowed from a mate cos i ended up killing my 16's one saturday night haha So while all this was being done ive had the motor in the shop getting built ready to go in hopefully within the next month of two.. I will put up a full list of what was done to motor when i get home from work later, way to much to list off the top of my head.. Basic info is forged build, 8.5:1 compression, big cam and head ported to suit.. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
