yeah sounds about right, but when you can get a VX GTS for around 25k now, you wouldnt bother.

I would say thats for a VT Roller block.
There was a brand new crate VT 220 motor on ebay not long ago for 12K.
I would just get a 5L block and build one, thats what I did in my SLE. For that money you can build a stinker!

26-08-11, 18:56 GMT+10#10 A second hand one.... would most likely have above 200,000km on it... complete, maybe a few thousand? I wouldn't pay much more because you could build one cheaper by the time you reco a 215i.

05-09-11, 10:09 GMT+10#12 they have a good crank in them, if its all good with no problems, no leaks, should be able to get a few grand, maybe 4 if you're lucky.
people like stuff being hsv, also depends how much comes with it, in terms of wiring, ecu, other bolt ons etc. the bluetop injectors go pretty well too.
I had one of these motors, but i sold it in bits needing a rebuild.
the biggest problem with them in the low compression. if it was rebuilt with flattops, and maybe a bigger cam etc, it should be worth 4 to 5 grand maybe, if its stock pistons, just try your luck, see what people offer.
you would be luckyto build a stroker with everything fixed up and rebuilt for much less then 5grand, if you pay someone to do everything. (machining, assembly, parts etc)

I actually prefer the Harrop crank to the HSV harrop crank.
Holden were tight arses and were rough on the machining to keep costs down.
Harrop have a radius on the journals whereas the HSV is more or so a squarish edge.
Squares in metal tear easier than radius'.
