This is a fake, but the real one's look the same.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Apparently the lad he brought it off took all the plates off to put on his other Calais. Sounds like a crock of $hit if u ask me. Is there anyway to tell with the numbers I've provided. Not really fussed $1500 is a bargain for original Calais turbo

All those other codes tell you is that its an original automatic turbo calais that is encumbrance blue, the other plate should be your vin plate, but doesn't seem to work. The build plate is the only way I know of, to tell if its an og HDT. Maybe check with HDT if they record the vin number on the cars they customised.

the G is wrong, it'll be a 6

No one in their right mind would take the HDT plates off a car to put on another car - makes no sense. Good score for a $1,500 calais turbo though.

If the guy knew it was an LE Sport, I doubt he'd sell it that cheap, unless it's a total piece of crap.

23-08-11, 08:55 GMT+10#11 He took the plates off to put on the old SIRHDT orange Walky. The Calais had been sitting in a shed for years, the engine is pulled out and it's melted the 3rd piston. Even when I put the 6 instead of G in the vin calculator nothing comes up. I can upload pics when I get home of the plates and vin plate

23-08-11, 09:46 GMT+10#15 8X198G L252694 L This is how your VIN plate should read as you had the 8X around the wrong way for this car and for your own car ditch the M off the front and it should be OK.
To verify a HDT you can ring them and give them the L252694 part of the number.
I'm not liking your chances as the guy who likes moving plates had probably moved it off of something else before it made it's way past the Calais.
Also it is possible that the plates you supplied the numbers from don't actually belong to that car at all. Check the ADR plates date matches with the spec plate you listed and on the ADR plate is a Chassis number which you should check with the Chassis number stamped on the strut tower. If the dates don't match then some plates were changed. If the Chassis numbers don't match then all plates were probably changed.
