help needed vl not holding boost

gday i just bought a vlt its got a front mount exhuast it had a boost controller all ready connected and it was running 7psi i winded it up to 10psi but when i give it to her it goes up to 10 and dies down to 6-7psi why?? how can i fix it?? thnaks

Hmmm boost spike.. sounds like either one end or the other is blocked. possible causes; 1. Check the air cleaner element. 2. Check if the catalytic convertor is not blocked or exhaust squashed. 3. A previous genious may have shortened the wastegate actuator. See if its been wound inwards making it shorter or welded it at a different length other than stock. nothing else comes to mind, other than the tune if it has an aftermarket ECU running the engine. post a photo of the front mount exhaust.. haven't seen one before!! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

cracked exhaust housing around the waste gate does this aswell.

Check for movement in the shaft & actuator. Also check & see if any of the piping(hose) is cracked or split that runs to the actuator.
