Im looking at buying a VLT diff, less calipers, rotors, dust seal and hand brake cable. My car is originally drum brake.
Im wondering if i can use any other model rear calipers (vn-vs?) or do i need to source VL calais/turbo gear.
Im worried i mightn't be able to find rear calipers as id imagine someone would rather sell a complete disc brake diff rather then strip it.
Can anything be rigged up with a drum hand brake cable, make a linkage or adapotor piece from drum > disc?
Thanks guys
Cables are pretty different between drum and disc, you could try.. not real safe, just buy a VL disc brake cable.
So the diff you're buying still has the backing plate? VN-VS non irs calipers and rotors should bolt straight up
What are the dust seals for?
Just found the thread i was looking for.. a few guys are running vn discs on a drum converisons. So, just for replacing calipers it should be easy.
Gab, i believe so as he only mentions keeping calipers. I read a few guys running VN backing plates so both might be compatible. Ill message the guy now
Yeah VN backing plates can be used, kind of.. they're upside down..
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by dust seals? Do you mean the dust cover bolted onto the backing plate?
Well thats the thing, im not sure myself? In the add, is said the brake gear and dust seals arent included. Ive never heard of em. Ill sort it out..
Im gonna pick up the diff and recondition vn brake gear on it.
Thanks heaps boys, youre champions.
