Hi, I have a vl Calais and last night I was driving home and I turned my low beams off and then went to turn them back on a minute later and they wouldn't turn back on. My Parkers and high beams still work (the low beams come on when high beams are turned on) but I can't get the low beams on by them selves. Globes are fine, fuse is fine, relay is fine and as far as I can tell, the switch is fine. My popup motor still works when I put the switch on for low beams. I'm also getting no power to th fuse or after the fuse. I've had half the dash off and still can't see what's wrong. Anyone able to shed some light please? I need this fixed ASAP. As I drive to work in the dark. Thanks

broken headlight stalk by the sounds of it mate check the fuse #1 and #2 as some times they don't make good contact on the fuse terminals

Yea I thought that but if the stalk was broken then when I turn on the low beams wouldnt the pop up motor not work? I'm pretty sure they are the same wire until they splice somewhere along the line. And fuserail is melted so they are joined by another setup, also low beams come on when high beams get turned on, so don't think it's that either. Only thing I'm left to replace is the relay, I tried the horn relay but then i just found out that they are 2 different relays. After that I'll try the stalk.

if high beam is on it bridges the circuit and makes the low beam work aswell. try the relay out but if that fails to fix it your up for a new stalk shouldn't cost more then $30 from repco

Yep, new relay should fix it. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Relay didn't fix it lol. Was more simpler then that, and I don't know why I didn't see it earlier. Was a melted fuse. For some obscure reason I thought low/high beam were the same fuse. And because the highbeam and parker fuses had melted and been rewired, didn't think much of the melted fuse sitting in the rail. Stupid me. Stupid me. Funny thing was, had to take it to 2 auto elecs before someone picked it up.
