Hey CT, Long time lurker, first time registering and posting though :P Ive just done the 6 hour drive to jindabyne and back from sydney and now im getting some bad noise coming from the gearbox area... It will only happen when its warm, and will start by making a sort of grinding noise when changing from 1 to 2, then eventually will happen to all changing, and when driven for long enough, will make a TERRIBLE loud noise when releasing the clutch and taking off! I highly doubt its the oil, as i got under it last night and put oil in it and it has no leaks, but its still making noise. If anyone could recommend a mechanic around the alexandria or riverstone areas that knows their way around a VL and won't charge me for wasting my time i would much appreciate it! Thanks and i will be sure to add a thread and show you the car this week sometime Swifty Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Sounds like a spigot bearing problem.

Ohh i had someone tell me it could be that, and after doing a search it does sound very familiar. I think i may replace the bearing and bush and see how that goes. Any idea about the price of those parts? or what kind of job im in for? haha

Don't know how it would cost to replace the spigot bearing in a VL but had the same problem in the Clubsport R8. $1,700 later & it was fixed. Spigot bearing was $58 Fly wheel bolts $94 Excedy clutch kit $1,300 Labor $484 & one sore wallet. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
