Hey guys I have a vlt LSD that has a constant whine so I going to get it built when I can afford however just recently when turning left in a carpark or so I get a quiet clunk coming from left hand rear would this be the diff or something else I just want opinions just incase it's something else other than diff

Shims are small washers inside the differential that come in a variety of different sizes to put preload on the springs. Doubt they were making any noise, especially clunking noises. More likely a loose bolt at the bottom of the shock.
