Ive had a rb20 powered vl, personally i would never buy one again. Save your money and get a RB30 powered vl.

Most people that have owned or driven an RB20 powered VL - do not want to again. There are some that seem to like it, but it will never feel the same as a 25/26/30 powered VL. The VL weighs 1300kgs - you need more than 2L to get it moving.

The RB20 box is about as strong as glass The RB20 engine is about as good as getting aids. If it was the cheapest VL in the world.. maybe I would think about it.. but only to rip the RB20 out of it and put in a 30T Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Obviously not "all" the fruit as it has an engine smaller than most 4cyl cars around.

Rb20's don't hit boost till 5000 rpm ok that's exaduratung a bit but they are very laggy.

They're a torqueless boat anchor. My rb20 r32 copped an absolute flogging, more 2nd/3rd gear limiter drops then you can imagine, countless track days and powercruises and also street thrashing and never skipped a beat, although that was just cooler exhaust boost kind of deal, very limited power. I wouldn't do it again, but that's me.

an R32 is the same weight as a VL.. people just dont put the right diff gears (4:11s) in that the higher reving motor needs.. As AVG45 said they take a massive hiding but need to be to get anything from them.. i wouldnt touch one but they dont deserve the **** everyone is giving them.

my old 31 was all in by 2500rpm with an rb20.. as has been said, the only reason RB20s go **** in VLs is because of the factory diff gears. Put some shorter gears in and go for gold.

they are ok with 4.1 gears but still not great. they are still lacking plenty of torque down low, you get boost then run out of power pretty quick. I dont know why people call them a higher reving engine cos with standard cams they run out of power before 6500rpm. but if you dont expect too much they are a bulletproof turbo engine.
