First off i have done a search. Hi everyone I'm having a really annoying problem with my na auto in my vl. The car drives through the first 3 gears fine then shifts up to 4th (overdrive) when it does this it drives fine in that gear for maybe 5 - 10 seconds then the exhaust note drops considerably as if the box has shifted into a 5th gear which obviously it hasnt got and there is almost no accelleration no matter how far you put your foot down until it goes into kickdown or what ever and kicks back to 2nd and takes off. This is exactly what my last box did before it got much worse and **** its self. This box has new fluid cleaned out valve body and a new fluid strainer as of almost a year ago. It has only been doing this for 2 weeks. So does anyone know the cause of this and how long i should be able to drive the car around in PWR mode (4th disengaged) before it f*%ks the box? I just want to know what causes this and for the box to last till i can get a R33 5 spd.

The fourth gear is overdrive. if you mean it's stuck in 3rd then i dont know what it could be. possibly your PWR button is out or the overdrive solenoid is disconnected. Now can someone please let me know what could be wrong with mine?

Kick down switch behind the accelerator or speed sensor in the dash cluster(if working, will hold 3rd and kick down like it should) could be buggered. Find a good condition cluster and swap it over and see how you go.
