I have recently bought my first car a vl and it was all going sweet until one day my clutch decided to be a pain. The problem is the clutch comes out as soon as the clutch pedal leaves the floor (doesent really bother me) but as a result its not easy to get into gear, to get a smooth gear change it isnt really possible it always grinds when i go to grab second shifting from first, it will down shift to second fine its just from 1st to 2nd gear. is there any way to have the clutch engage earlier? any advice will be appreciated (its manual)

Firstly, you should try bleeding the clutch fluid to ensure it's fresh and without air in the line. Then see how it feels. If it's still no good, you could be looking at a misadjusted master cylinder pushrod (some VLs have them, "series 2" I believe), or a faulty master/slave cylinder.
