Axle play

hey guys so gotta knocking sound when im coasting coming from rear passenger axle undid wheel and jacked it up found that the whole axle has play in and out..any ideas? maybe just needs tightnening any ideas how to do this? also not sure how to remove dust cap from centre of axle or is this pressed? and is there a nut behind there that i can tighten or? any comments welcome thanks Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Wait, how do you know the axle is making the noise? When you say "play" where is the play? There is no dust cap or nut you can tighten on the axle. It is held in by four nuts over the axle retaining plate. This is up against the diff flange, behind all of the braking components; can you see if there is movement there?

i know because i jacked up and axle was moving in and out (play).and i have already checked that and it is fine.

i just not sure because i dont undrstand how a bent axle could cause movement like that
