When coming into a round about or going closer to full lock i get this knocking/shutter through my steering.
It also sounds like a knocking sound from the passenger side when going over bumps.
Are they were taking off and getting recond or just picking up another one in better condition? Ive never had tk replace a steering rack before so any help is great.
Cheers
"Knocking" on the passenger side suggests a possible worn control arm ball joint, which isn't part of your steering rack.
Is your car lowered/large aftermarket rims? You could be rubbing on the guard at full lock.

Car is lowerd on 15x7 ceptors man, when i had al my bushes replaced awhile ago they told me the steering rack was getting towards its last legs, the steering has gone pretty bad latley.
Replacing a steering rack requires a wheel alignment afterwards. Generally you can get reconditioned ones for about $200 when you trade in your old one.
Fitting is hard to explain if you haven't done it before. Probably recommend going to a shop to have it done. Still, get that ball joint checked as well.
definitely don't get a shop to do it.. its a matter of about 6 bolts and two fluid lines to get it out, a little fun to get the smaller line back in but don't be afraid to bend it into position, adjust your tie rod ends so you have a little toe out and then take it for a wheel alignment.. save some cash so you got some spare for when something else breaks.
And how do you bleed the power steering system? And how do you remove a stubborn tie rod from the steering eyelet, and then from the rack arm?
The OP has stated he is pretty unsure on the issue, so it's probably best to give him sound advice.

by reading manual to power steering threads like i did.. i had no clue either, tie rod ends just loosen the castle nut about half way and wack it with a hammer till moves, and once the rack is out there's just a locking nut you loosen and unscrew the tie rod end.
or ignore everything everyone says once you've had enough of mixed opinions and do what i always end up doing.. bring your tools home from work or get tools that you think you'd need plus random ones that you might need, then lay under the car for a day or two untill its done. thats how learned to do turbo swaps, my VL steering rack, coilovers, fuel pump and in a few weeks an engine swap.

also with prices i found that holden genuine was cheapest at $350 exchange
pedders was about 450
and i can't stand shopping online because my earls braided oil and water turbo lines never showed up when they were the only thing i needed to chuck the new turbo in.. raage.
im sure in eastern states you'd have a steering rack place that will do VLs
