Hey all just curious on what temp you Vlt runs at? I have put a brand new 3 core radiator in, 76 degree thermostat, completely flushed the system and put fresh coolant in. N it has made a slight difference but it's still running a bit hot. It sits between the 2nd bar to half on the dash. But my gauge is saying 98 degrees when im driving and 92 when sitting at the lights.
Is this normal or have I missed something?
Cheers

Mine is a fresh build, and has a new radiator, new water pump, new clutch fan, new thermostat, and runs at 84 deg C according to the microtech. Which it seems to hold pretty well, jumps up to 86 every now and then but pretty much stays on 84...

My engine isn't that old either 10,000 ks I'f that. I don't think it's the fan. As it gets warmer when ur drivin.

i got a question, do u guys still run the clutch fan? ive put a 3 core alloy radiator on mine with a temp sensor so the fan comes on at 85 cuts out at 90. its a huge fan off a ford ba but still it gets hot while at the lights. should i just put the clutch fan back on?

98 degrees is a bit too hot mate.
Mine sits on nearly half on the vl gauge and on the speco it sits at around 82-84
With your aftermarket temp gauge, is the sensor that comes with the gauge wired upto your gauge or is it a mechanical that goes into your radiator hose?
As far as im aware, if you running say a speco gauge you must use your speco temp sender that comes with it because its calibrated to run with the speco gauge.

lots of threads prev about this
standard clutch fan is very good provided the shroud is left in place,
people remove the clutch fans and try other setups but end up going back to them

You can get fittings that go into your radiator hose,

20-06-11, 12:17 GMT+10#16 Cheers boys been a great help. I took it for a dr this mornin n it sat on the second bar on the dash till I sat at the lights n it shot up to half. But I just found my radiator cap is leaking! It's brand new so I didn't even look at it.

20-06-11, 16:00 GMT+10#18 The rubber ring In the cap wasn't sealing on the top of neck on the rad. So bought a new 1. It's holding temp better at the lights now but still not rit. I wouldn't of thought.

20-06-11, 19:12 GMT+10#19 Bit less than half most the time, but can creep up a little over half, and thats with running a 14" thermo fan

20-06-11, 22:48 GMT+10#20 you need these two parts from auto meter and the gauge will read correctly as the stock sender with auto meter gauge is wrong
Electric Temperature or Pressure 1/8" NPT to M12x1.5 adaptor
2277
Short Sweep Electric Temperature Sender
2259
( this is a shorter/shallow sender as the other one you get with gauge will not fit in adaptor )
