hey guys just got the vl going. starts fine, runs good just wont select gear. t bar is connected to the auto and is moving the selector fine however nothing. engine doesnt even drop revs when a gear is selected. its full of fluid and all connected up right but no go. Is she buggered?

mine does the same thing atm i think my diff is knackered??? dunno if that helps? jack it up and spin one wheel at the rear the opposite wheel should spin the opposite way to the one ur spinning...

yeah diffs fine. when you spin one wheel and the other goes opposite, just means you got a single spinner buddy. my revs don even drop when you put it into gear. I think my trans is stuffed. unless anyone else can tell me if its different, before i go buy another tranny this week

Maybe this can help...
Is the selector rod thing on the valve body in the correct position relative to the tbar, and is it moving with the tbar?
EDIT:If you give me your email I can send you the Auto Manual, it's 17mb so a bit big to upload here.

yes its in the right position and is moving when i move the tbar and still nothing.

are all the connections to the valve body plugged in? should be 3 wires and 2 steel pins.

havent checked. i need to drop the pan to check that yeah? ill go through the last image you uploaded 1st. in all the vls i have wrecked and restored (42) i have never came across this problem lol. i really cant be bothered changing the trans.

Yeah as far as I know that's the only way to do it.
As I've only owned a car for 6 months and 8 days I'm sure you have much more knowledge than me haha

If you have a spare auto, try swapping the valve body maybe, it'll cost like $30 in fluid though :/
