After many years of driving vls, from bucket of **** thrash cars to a pretty clean calais 5L, an opportunity came up that I couldnt miss. Genki posted for sale a freshly resprayed 86 calais rolling shell for the right price. A month or so later, i picked up the car, sold the rat and got started on putting everything together. Back track about 9 months ago and i got the idea of building a 25/30 after reading a heap of threads about blokes that had built 400hp+ motors just from slapping a 25 head of a standard rb30e block. So I brought a 25 head and accumulated a pile of bolt-ons and am in the process of deciding how I want to build the motor. Make / Model: 1986 Holden VL Calais 5 Speed Colour: Mitsubishi 380 electric blue over Asteroid silver Body kit: Factory Holden Engine Type: Rb30et (currently) Engine Mods: standard for now Power: 150kw at the flywheel? Exhaust: 3 turbo back with bashed out cat Fuel system: Bosch 044, surge tank, malpassi fuel reg Gearbox: r33 5spd with exceedy cushioned brass button clutch Diff: VL turbo disk brake, 28 spline axels, mini spool, 3.9 diff gears Brakes: VT master cylinder, VS booster. Front: 330mm rotors with gtr 4-pot callipers. Rear: standard disks with bendix ultimate pads Suspension: front: coil overs with 90/10 shocks. Rear: super low springs, new shocks going in soon Wheels/Tyres: VE SSV 19s machined to fit VL hubs Interior: immaculate grey S2 calais interior with HDT head rests brand new weather seals all around, brand new scuff panels, momo steering wheel and venetians (rear and side), a few gauges around the place. Stereo: eclips deck, eclips 6"2ways in parcel shelf Other Mods: line locker, intercooler, greddy catch can, battery in boot, bonnet struts, polished strut caps, hidden engine bay wiring, VL turbo radiator, VT commodore power steering res. Future mods: build an off tits (figuratively speaking) rb30det. Parts I have already; fully rebuilt rb25det head with modified oil galery for vct 3 angle valve grind and mild porting, t66 turbo, high mount manifold modified for t4 flange and 42mm gate, greddy copy plenum, 600cc SARD injectors, microtech LT12s ECU, 6x Bosch mec 717 coils, tial 42mm waste gate, XF falcon TB, bosch 044, ARP head studs, rb25det oil pump, braided turbo lines. Plan is to build a full forged 25/30 and have some fun with it and probably fit some more street friendly suspension for when its not going to the track. when i got it: now: Cheers Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

time for a real update. this shal be quite "pics heavy" car went into PRT yesturday, Paul, Mo, Lion Chacer and myself pulled out the rb30et and then today we dropped in the RB30DET. The calais now just has to be wired up, cooler pipeing sorted, exhaust finished and tuned. Huge thanks to Paul, Mo, Lion Chacer (Brussles) and Davo for all the help with the car. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Iv just about finished the wiring so hopefully we get all the cooler piping and exhaust this week after I get my turbo back from being rebuilt and then it's off for a tune. Chances are it won't be that simple tho...
