Hi Guys, While my transmission was getting built l bought 2 other transmissions. The 2 other transmissions were working fine and as soon as l pressed the "PWR BUTTON" on the gear stick the rev would kick back which seemed to be normal. Now with my built transmission the PWR button doesn't seem to work, l changed the solenoid today which made no difference. What could the problem be? Electrical wise it all seems fine, what else should l be looking at to get the pwr button working with my built transmission? thanks heaps guys.

Is your new trans a 3 speed Jatco?

its a original n/a trans with a vlt valve body. (I think). It seems to be stuck in overdrive on 70-80 kmph above and when l press the pwr button it doesn't kick back to 3rd. The damn PWR button doesn't work!

Back on topic, to get PWR button working what do l look out for: 1. solenoid - been replaced 2. switch under dash? 3. transmission?

guys please stay on topic. OK when the orange pwr button is IN its in overdrive mode, when OUT its in power mode (cancels 4th)?. When you tramp it in overdrive (button in) it will automatically engage power mode for a few seconds to help you get out of a tight spot etc. It doesn't go any harder with the button out than with it in, leaving it out just chews the petrol and keeps the car in 3RD which is not happening with mine when power mode is activated.

The PWR mode wouldn't work in one of My previous VL's. I just re-wired it. Pretty sure I tapped the positive side in to a "hot when ign. ON". Then ran an earth wire in to the cabin with a toggle switch. Doing this means the PWR light on the dash wont work as it bypasses the TCM.

ok guys, got the problem fixed ! Where the overdrive solenoid screws into there are 2 o rings, a little fat one that goes 2 inches deep and one surrounding the solenoid, replaced the little fat o ring and works perfectly fine. Thanks everyone for their input. People's if your pwr button doesn't work look at replacing the o rings first before you do anything else. Today l also adjusted the trans kickdown and has made heaps difference, before it would slowly go across the rev range as soon as l pressed the pedal, now when l press the pedal it kickdowns a gear riteaway and is much more responsive. I have adjusted the switch to be closer to the pedal so as soon as l press the accelerator it hits the switch and therefore kicks down a gear witin no time. Love the feel of the car now with the kickdown working rite away and PWR button working cancelling overdrive! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
