My current set up is unopened NA bottom end, 1.88mm gasket, proboost t04z, custom plenum, tige cam etc, I'm running a 2 speed powerglide with a 3500 stall, the set up makes 470hp on 24psi with full boost by 3900. My question is will a gt42 work with my convertor, and is anyone else running a proboost 42 , I will be running a 50 shot of gas to help on the transbrake, but i dont know how it will go rolling onto boost. any input would be good.

I didn't know proboost made a GT42. I thought he only made a GT45. How was the To4z?? Any reason why your removing the To4z. I heard they make pretty good power.

he said he made 470hp with 24psi, if that sint good i dunno what is!? my guess is he wants a bit more power without having to pump a heap more boost into it due to the stock bottom end?

Yeah mate he makes the 42 it's the new one with the gold nut on the compressor, the t04z is great makes great power and responsive, I just want to see how far I can push this motor, I'll be keeping the t04z and putting it back on if the 42 is to laggy

This set up has been going strong for nearly a year, at the end of the day a stock rb30 cost next to nothing so if it let's go oh well, I want to see if it will get 550hp@the tyres through the glide, 470@ the tyres thought was pretty good, I put the build up post in non vl turbo page as 10 second daily r31, when it was making 448hp

the guy tuning mine says the rods start to bend at about 550rwhp. think we were talking about manual. hees tuned them to 600rwhp also. a tuner on skylines australia has pumped out 670rwhp on one i think it was. pretty cool motors hey

it depends what you call big revs really, doesnt it? But when you start making big HP you generally are turning it pretty hard....

A 42 would seem kinda pointless to me unless you are turning it to atleast 6.5-7k in which case you will almost certainly kill a standard bottom end. I do like seeing the standard bottom end get pushed but guys have got to be aware that if your in top gear at 140mph and the motor decides to spit a rod and spew oil all over the track/road and under your tyres, you are probably gonna have a really bad day.

But when you start making big HP you generally are turning it pretty hard.... yeah thats true, it's not uncommon for twin cam 30s to turn a good 10,000rpm which is pretty high for a 3ltr. Even then its the fatigue of the metal overtime with exposure to high rpm and high hp. To get instant failure due to rpm or power alone would be a fair over calculation of how much power it should handle.

The limiter is set at 6800 and seems to be ok, the 42 will be on and ready to be tuned in the next 2 weeks so i'll keep you posted on how it all goes, hoping for somewhere around 550hpatw without the gas, and if its still alive i'll do some runs with the bottle on.
