The Calais, one in my DP lol was rebirthed and and a new motor and gearbox put in. Court ruled that we get the car back minus motor and gearbox. They took more then that though... (Rims, badges, sound system, wiring, ecu, Popups motor, chrome strips). So its slowly getting rebuilt piece by piece Hi Comp setup, nothing too fancy for now.
VIN and build plates on the firewall now say its a Blue NA Executive with Sandalwood interior though, will be interesting to see how things pan out when trying to get it registered again..

30-05-11, 21:37 GMT+10#10 That's good news.
Mine was seen from time to time around Perth. It's quite distinct in appearance. Re-birthed no doubt. I asked the Police to look up any VL BLUE Calais 5 speed registered in the previous month back in 2004 when it was first spotted with different plates. Do you think they even bothered? Would have been a slam dunk.

30-05-11, 22:00 GMT+10#11 Only reason they bothered with ours i think is because this guy had stolen about 30 different cars, bikes, car trailers etc. and they were apparently watching him for some time. If it was just the VL, it would have never have been found. Police really dont care anymore...

you're assuming that it was 'blue slipped' yet it may have been given another cars id and rego making that a waste of time even if they could do it

That's what I assumed happened BUT there are distinct "features / marks" that would have given it away for what it was. They only need to have looked - would have taken them 5 minutes. And in one particular month, how many blue 5speed manual VL Calais's get registered anyway?
