Hey guys,
In the process of buying a stock as a rock VZ calais with the 5.7 not the 6L .
Anyways, motor has 130xxx on it.
Was wondering if this is the right way to go and what power Id expect to be making out of it being an auto.
Full exhaust - extractors, hi flow cats and exhaust.
OTR intake with a mafless tune.
I ebayed out of curiosity and seen a bloke that does mafless tunes via postage (ie you sent comp, he tunes, and sends back)for a very cheap price, is this wise?
Link for those curious;

Was just wondering what kind of power I would be making out of this, and if sending off my pcm to get it tuned without seeing the car is wise?
This is my first LS1 so any knowledge is appreciated, done abit of window shopping and read a few posts and this is what ive come up. Will fuel economy be really shocking after the aforementioned mods?

About 220-240rwkw. for those basic mods a mailorder tune will get you good results tho Id stay well clear of that ebay one. Oztrack and a few others do good mailorder tunes. I have the same mods and my economy stayed the same although alot of people reckon there economy gets better with a tune. Lsx garage(forum sponsor) is out your way and have a good rep. Brett did my tune

dan (brawlr) is on the money, i would stay away from mail order, buy your mods and head down to LSX garage and get brett to install them and tune ya car, will make shift points better and all! then slap a blower on the bad boy aswell as a cam! once you start you cant stop

Gave the bloke a message before I even started this thread, waiting on his reply. Seems like a good bloke judging by his reputation..
Any recommendations as to what size headers and exhaust for the mods mentioned? Is the tri-y headers needed for the power im lookin at? I dont plan on making the car a powerhouse as it will be daily driven

Iv got DF 4 into 1s and there a nightmare on lowered cars cause they hang so low. Try y's are supposed to give better power down low and 4 into 1s higher up in the rev range.

When I got my VY SS, it had a power rating of 276 FWKW when new , I'm the 3rd owner of the car and it was fitted with a set of custom headers , twin 2.25 inch sports exhaust system and 3.9:1 final drive ratio, plus it had a tune (not mafless).
I haven't had it on the dyno as of late but it is going better now than when I bought it , one of the o2 sensors are shot at the moment and I hope to change that tomorrow, so that will mean more power & better fuel economy.
Well , from the headers back ,both cats have been changed (2.5 inch hi flow units have been fitted) and a twin 2.5 inch redback exhaust system plus resonator and I've fitted a K & N air filter.
I can remember in the 80's when both Holden & Ford tried to kill of the V8 , it was eventually bought back to life ,some people around still have that sort of mentality, these days I wouldn't even bother stuffing around with a turbo engine, some of these people I think would like to see the V8 dead.
At the moment mine is acting a bit like an old V6 sometimes ,alright for some but I like it when it's acting like a good RB30, time to get rid of that bad sensor .
