Hi all, decided it was about time to put the Royale into retirement, so I bought this beast for running to work and back as well as going away and towing etc.
Its a May 1997 (making it one of the very last) VSII Calais, Supercharged 3800, 4L60E auto, LSD. Has done 185,000km but still in good shape, all electrics and climate air still work, as does the factory 6 speaker stereo with CD changer. Being the last of the VS's it gets a few extra goodies from the Statesman and Caprice, like side mouldings and foglamps.

as luck would have it my father has use of a 5.0 litre VS for a week while his car is getting fixed, so I took it for a drive to compare, what a nugget that V8 is, the only good thing is the noise. I had been thinking to myself for 2 weeks "should'a got the V8", now im glad I didnt.

The 5.O litre does sound awesome, but they don't really produce much power. Needs to blown. Most of Holden's V8s suffer from a lack of low down shove. The 6.2 in the current HSVs is probably the best one so far.

hey that looks nice but watch out for the airbag cover on the dash. the ends seem to lift up on them if they are exposed to the sun lots, had this problem on my SS.. sorry but u just cant compare a v6 to the lovely sound that the 5 litre makes
