Hey guys, i have a brand new built 355 with C.O.M.E. racing twin throttle manifold, looking at the idea of twin turbo also, what recommendations can you guys make on the model turbo's i use??
looking for a low 10 (or better) street car (yes it will be registered and fully engineered)
but only driven occasionally on the street.
all info much appreciated

yeah has all the good bits in it, was originally gonna go with side mount blower but now looking at a different setup using twin turbo
Engineered twin turbo with aftermarket ecu, good luck I think you need to be talking to a engineer first. As for turbo selection two 35/40 would be good for a 355 and still with head room for more power later. What tran are you planning on using?

the engineer i been using so far with the build has assured me there is a way to get the car on the road the way i want it, my last car was a 6/71 blown vk that he was more than happy with the build quality and performance (both acceleration and most importantly stopping/turning) that he wrote the engineers for me, trans is a powerglide that has also been built with the best gear available and a 3500 stall (which i will change if necessary)

All depends on what car you put it in.
I dont think twin 35r's will work very well if you want to keep the 3500 converter, that's 1300hp worth of turbo, and you only want 10's or 9's, you'll only need about 700 hp in an lx to go 9's.
What is your budget? are you prepared to spend $1800 per turbo to make the combo work perfectly or do you want to just wing it with something cheaper? If you got the cash something around gt3076's would be good, you could use your 3500 converter with them, and it would be great to drive, those turbo's would max out up around 1000hp.
If you wanna go cheaper a pair of old t4's will do the job.
I personally wouldnt want to go any bigger than a 3500 converter, it doesnt need it.
been doing a lot of research and talking with a few shops today, seems the turbos i gonna be using is a pair of Turbonetics GTK 550, who has recommendations for someone to build turbo manifolds???
i have been organising a lot with a shop here in sth/e melb but always open to other options and recommendations.
like to hear where not to go to also, any bad stories etc, i dont want to get burnt by a shop that can talk the talk but not walk the walk

Make sure it's build date is pre July '76 and you're set.

I wouldn't listen too much to others. Every shop has a bad story according to someone. Go somewhere that has proven track record and good service that you trust with your car.

Brett you know more than i about this topic, but i thought all vehicles were subject to capacity restrictions one formula for NA and another for FI. I thought pre '76 only exempt you from emmisions?
They're subject to capacity to weight restrictions on forced induction engines ONLY if it's a replacement engine - EG Torana + LS1 + Turbo = no (Well, not no, but very very difficult to pass) as it won't meet the forced induction capacity to weight. You'd only be able to have around 200 cubes or less if you wanted forced induction on a replacement engine not originally offered from factory with the weight of a Torana.
EG2: Torana + 308 + Turbo = Yes. You can add forced induction to an engine originally offered from the factory without having to undergo any weight or capacity restrictions.
There's a little more to passing an engineers certificate but they're the initial things they're looking at.
Pre 76 does exempt you for emissions, no matter which engine you upgrade to. After 76 you must comply with the later model engine emissions as per factory.
EG: LS1 in a 1977 Torana = LS1 emissions. LS1 in 1975 Torana = no emissions as that vehicle never had anything to comply to.

whats your engineers phone number mate, i have a 671 blown 355 vk sitting in the garage and no one will engineer it because there is not clear line of site 14meters in front of the car looking side to side and im running maxwedge manifold and all the low sitting bits.
phone number and name would be ace as it will help us get it insured a bit easier and cheaper.
