Hi everyone, Just thought some people may be interested in autocross/ supercharged vl's. As my vl is a budget track/autocross car, don't expect to much in regards to its aesthetics, 100% backyard engineered by myself and brother. I ran it last year at geelong motorsport clubs autocross track, plus a few events in the Victorian club autocross series,Im now currently a member at Kynenton motorsport club as they have a great setup and are a club which is involved in VCAS. Just looking to get out there and have some fun. Which it has proved to be!!!! Budget motorsport at its best. Car and mods as follows; 86' SL 5 speed (370,000km on clock) Pretty straight car. spooled standard vl disc diff lowered all round (have only just done this) Race seat removed ignition barrel and installed a panel with ignition and push button start stripped all unnecessary weight right down to removing all deadner etc.... Over the christmas break we read up on installing an sc14 supercharger onto the rb30. As i wanted to keep it simple and keep pwr steering the blower is sitting above the engine sticking through the bonnet. looks a little ridiculous but everyone loves it.hahaha. Set it all up with the help some great help from stockymcstock. (thanks Stocky) Runs really well and makes great power for 4psi on a standard high comp n/a engine that has done 370000km. with full stock fuel system and no change to ecu tuning at all. Future mods will probs be a half cage/full cage and install my MX7 that I have if i start doing more bitumen events/hillclimbs.Apart from that I just love getting out there and competing. Next year I may do the full VCAS and take it a little more seriously but its totally up to you how far you want to take it. If anyone is in vic and keen on autocross let me know and i will be able to point you in the right direction or help you with anything you may need to know. A few more commodores out there would be great. Once i figure out how to post some photos and vids I will do so. If anyone can help me out there it would be much appreciated.
