It really depends on what sort of driving you do with it, like my VY SS Commodore is good on fuel on the open road where I drive it to work on the highway for an hour, I got about 10.4L/100 kms on Caltex Vortex 98 and the car also had an air leak. I expect to get about 10-11 L/100 kms out of that car on the highway, this is what I consider good fuel economy, I hope to better that figure now the car is running at 100% capacity. What you interpret as good fuel economy may be different, if your after something that gets 5-6 L/100 kms and you drive around the city, something like a Hyundai Getz or a Starlet or something would be more in your favour. I'm also a big bloke so I drive a big car.

I've got an 89 Mitsubishi Mirage Station Wagon & i swear by it, cheap as chips to run & reliable as hell. Was working in wrecking yards for years & these were one car that just kept going & going, so that's what i bought 2 years ago for a daily. They have the 4G15 1500cc engine in them so good round town or the open road, mines never missed a beat since I've had it. 6 hour drive to do today and that's what I'm going in ;-)
