Hey guys i got pulled over on my way to gym driving normally. The cop had followed me for about 5-10 mins, then pulled me over right infront of the gym (which pissed me off) lol. Well anyways he had booked me in for (p) plates not displayed properly and High powered vehicle. I didnt argue with him at the start i was pretty calm telling him my P plate is on the front but it just fell down on the dash on the back and u can still see it and he kept saying he couldnt. He had taken pics and so have i, and he didnt even look if the front ones were up. Well to the point i have have recieved the fines in the mailbox and got 3 points for each offence, which means i have lost my licence cause p platers carry only 5 points. i have never lost any points or got any fines during me holding my licence, only got pulled over once for a random check. What can i do to get my 3 points for my p's or can they let me off for the offence? i dont care about the high powered vehicle cause i was in the wrong there. If anyone has been in this situation please help asap. Thank you.

Your P plate was down and you got caught. You think they're going to now let you off?

the front was up.. and the back i didnt even notice it was off nd u can still see it, from the back window. ND he was in a 4wd which makes it even more visable.

but it was down. How long will you lose it for? It's not like they're going to take the fine and points back now.

I'm waiting for Vic roads to send me the mail. Police only issued fine. I was reading online if u have not got a fine or points within 2 years u can write a letter of review is that true

yeah, not for p platers though, you need a good record for like 10 years nad can only do it once it is YOUR responsibility before you drive a vehicle to have your P plates up

mate, worst comes to worst, and you really need your license go talk to a lawyer. you've got some valid points on your side so use them- don't give up. otherwise like it's been said, just learn your lesson for next time.

When i was on p's and got done similarly as in 6pts and a previous clean record they offer the option like everyone lose it for 3 months or 1pt for a year so you won't exactly have to lose your license.

ive been to court to help out mates in these sorta situations. ive heard that aparently a cop is only allowed to follow you for a certain distance (in metres) before they turn on their lights an pull you up. Like they cant just sit behind you for like 5 ks an then decide to pull you up, they have to do it within a certain distance. I think its like 4-500 metres before lights go on. So yeah 5-10 minutes following you seems a bit dodgy if you ask me, id have asked him that. But yeh man, 95% of people lose in court, an judges smash u if ur a p plater with speeding fines, id pay it an learn from ur mistakes.

I was driving a high powered vehicle with no P's up, no rego and speeding and he just gave me a speeding fine... it's all about your attitude and how the cop is feeling I recoine..

similar thing happened to me not long age. got pulled over for too low (got defected with no fine so i copped that) but got a fine an loss of 3 points for my back p falling off as he was behind me. so i sent a letter in an im just waiting on the result. but i found out from a reliable sorce that over $30,000 worth of minor fines just get thrown out when they get a letter. but if you were to get a lawyer it;d cost a packet like 2-4 grand. all you can do is give it a shot man. plus i had the front one on too, and its not like a had something to hide like driving an ss or something, maybe that'l make it bit hard for you seeing as how you said you were driving a high powered car..... give it a shot man write a good letter to them...

For most people they really dont have a chance. its easier and more convenient to just pay the fine and either take the 1 point or the 3 months. I must admit the only time I've ever seen a officer back down was when i was working for worksafe vic. The worksafe rep i was with got pulled over doing 44 in a 40 zone. mr cop jumps out of his car on a main rd without his high vis vest/jacket (big mistake) and decided to issue us a ticket. Mr cop walks back to his car and just before he takes off we give him a knock on the window and hand him a nice little fine from worksafe victoria. needless to say our fine was torn up.

LOL, I heard that one before there was even 40k zones Jeez 4 people in 16 posts had the same problem? I drove on my p's over 10 years ago and didnt have my plates fall off once.. Has technology somehow decreased in that time? ---------- Post added 28-04-11 at 22:18 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by aus880 [View Post] ^^another urban myth that's been doing the net for a while in various forms pls don't post that as yours and truthful yeah didnt you know, you can put a 2 cent coin under your tongue and the breatho wont pick it up Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Threads like these put grey hairs on AUS880's head. Suction cup technology is pretty good these days, so I don't see the excuse for having them fall down. Just cop it on the chin, a p-plater arguing that his p-plates fell down while driving a high performance vehicle? Don't be a nugget

Urban myths spread like wildfire and I can definately see the irony in it. I doubt I witnessed the first time it has ever happened either. As far as calling me a liar thats your personal opinion but i assure you Worksafe has the power to launch an investigation at the drop of a hat.
