wassup. some of you sydney guys might remember my old silver vl. went through a few stages. for most of its life it was turbo, and a mad sleeper. roof rack, hub caps and all that jazz. anyway i sold it, got a skyline, sold that and got this calais, im bored so i thought id chuck a thread up. the car looked the goods on the net, had an impressive list of parts. along with a recent respray, had been told all rust had been cut out etc etc so basically i was under the impression it was immac, dead straight fresh paint no rust, rb25/30 with r33 5spd box, aftermarket greddy computer, 28spline spooled diff, a few turbosmart goodies ie: boost controller & turbo timer etc. had some gay 18s, and the interior was farked. red seats, i wouldnt even call what it had door trims, they were more like wood with carpet and lots of holes in them. had gray roof lining and a mixture of blue and gray dash parts. A MESS!!!!!! went and looked at the car in the rain so couldnt see it perfectly, immediatly i knew it wasnt as special as the internet ad made it out to be, a lot of the parts he listed as turbosmart and sard etc were not lol. so basically the car had a broken output shaft but ran fine, saw it running and everything, thought i got a good deal so i took it. what a nightmare, wasnt a 25/30, wasnt a 33 box, car has rust, nothing was taken off the car when it was sprayed, all windows stayed in. even the ****in bars and moulds all stayed on everything was just masked off!!!! =[ nevertheless it is striaght, paint is good and rust is minimal i guess. i could go on forever about what was wrong with it but the list is massive. it was even missing the drivers door window! had no idea at first because all windows were down and it was missing all the switches. MOST importantly, the shell and diff were good and thats all i wanted!!! at the end of the day its a genuine calais with a fresh respray so im happy. i went on to sell off eveything out of the car i didnt want. wheels, motor, interior bits. everything. NOTE: IM A P PLATER!!!!! sourced an rb30, gearbox, interior and every other little thing i needed to finish it! now some pics for you to froff over. ill start form the day it got dropped off to now. ive had the car for about a month now. the day i got it one day i photoshopped a set of AME pridors on it and loved it so i hunted down a set and bought them stripped the **** outta the disgusting interior. fortunately i didnt get any photos of how it was lol. then i pulled the rb25 out in favour for a p plate friendly rb30, ive driven turbo cars too much on my p's its time to do it legal. dont have a licence at the moment so when i get it back i wanna keep it! having the car driving for the first time since id had it i was excited n took some photos then i did a skid, has massive exhaust leak due to broken exhaust studs so sounds funny http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgueldzlU4Y then i sourced a red calais interior and bought it. scored s2 front seats too. got it cheap as too so happy im quite happy with it. i did heaps of little **** to it aswell in bewteen all that but none of its really important lol. just needs a few little things now and and a stereo then its ready to cruise. then ive gotta wait to get my licence back ahaha eventually my plans are to throw a big setup straight on it when i get my fulls. something like a t04z or a 35/40, cometic with stock a6 bottom end. port n polished head with a big mean cam and double valve springs etc, 850cc injectors. if e85 is more readily available by then ill probably just go straight for that. basically ill want around 400rwhp out of it, then ill hope to run a 10 in street trim, h pattern. enjoy ill update as i do more to it Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

i bought some bare rear s2 headrests, now ive just gotta track down some red calais trim. preferably id like to just buy a rear seat and cut it up and use the trim off that, well i think thats the only option i have really. if anyone knows of anybody selling red calais seats ill buy them just for the material! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

started restoring the colour on my seats as theyre fairly faded as most red trim is.. at first i freaked out cause it came out really really bright, nothing like the original colour, the original colour is more of a maroon and this is coming out like brigh red. but it is growing on me. ill continue to do everything, including maybe the roof lining, and if it looks too odd by the time ive done all the fabric i might do all the dash and plastics to match aswell. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
