get a peice of metal, cut it out in the shape of a flange in ur exhaust, drill a few holes in it and stick it in between a gasket on either side and bolt it up. will run like **** but should reduce emmisions a bit. never tried it but heard of it working

That's for noise. Doubt it'll do much for emissions.

well whatever a GTR had exhaust wise, put that on, and run the standard RB26 computer. Might be a head **** but it should get you a pass. And the new Cat converter is a good idea too. And Full air box and filter setup.

if its the evaporative emissions test then no ****ing around with plates in the exhaust, swapping your pod for an airbox, or converting to gas will get around it. Your engine must be 100% stock to the model of the GTR it came out of, which means STOCK ecu, full exhaust (stock size), stock injectors, AFM's plugged in and working and all PCV hoses plugged back into where they should go. If all thats done it may pass.

what obsessv said is for a noise test and have heard it works perfectly if they havent taken any photos of your car or engine numbers, many people by a stock rb30 na and drop that straight in

My understanding was that however the car is when you pass the emissions test is how it has to be for engineers and stay that way to be legal.

well the test was today.. and the result was.......FAILED..... it went 6x over the legal limit for my car in NOX G/KM its ment to be 0.9 NOX G/KM and mine went 1.56 NOX G/KM... 6 TIMES OVER NOT HAPPY.. the RTA guys were really nice and told me it is hard to pass this test and they recomend an after market computer so i can lean the fuel out to pass this test.. also check my airflow sensors and a new catilatic converter and a good mechanic.. so that is the result.. back in the garage she goes until i source the right mechanic.. though it was hectic fun today giving it a hiding up and down the freeway... ---------- Post added 20-04-11 at 17:37 ---------- Test results were.. Thc 8.78 nox 1.56 co 59.1 c02 201.9

Take it to a tuner, remove maf lid there is a ajustable pot in there, check voltages with a multimeter, higher the reading leaner it runs, around 1.0v is rather lean down near 0.8v is rich. I have never done this with a 26dett but have got away with this on other cars. Also another way of getting around this is to modify your signal from you temp sensor (ecu one not dash) open circut is rich as tits. done this on a 300zx. hope this helps in some way

Does that actually work the metal in the cat trick?

lean does not lower emissions... actually running richer lowers them. The RTA guy is telling you bunkies.. Your best bet is factory everything.. Or find a tuner who knows what they are doing. They will be looking for cat light off and cruise conditions. They don't even bring the car on boost.

AVL012345- Yes though the EPA testers arent stupid. When I got mine EPA'd the tester asked if I had any baffling in the exhaust such as a plate and drew a pic of my complete system to send to the EPA(some take photos). So if youve got a monster system and its quiet as shi t they will know.
