Hey all, finally sold my s15 silvia and I have my eyes on a 99 vt berlina 5.7L and a vt berlina 3.8 L67.
Are their any big concerns with either of these cars mechanically?? I have always heard a rumour about the early Gen 3's having an oil problem..
So if you know of a common problem with either of these engines, feel free to post it here for me!
I'm looking at both cars tomorrow (Tuesday).
Cheers, Josh

Yea the oil problem was common in early gen 3 engines, but i think Holden recalled them and fixed the problem (I could be wrong)
I'd go with the LS1 VT over the super6

Here are a few links on the L67.
Actually not a bad motor at all.

The first of the LS1's in the VT's did have a problem with oil consumption ,but any Vt's that are left on the road should've had that problem fixed by now, mine in my VY has done 241,000 kms and it is still mechanically good and doesn't use oil.
As for the S/c V6 , there's none that I could think of , only from a personal point I think it would be better to go straight to a VZ with the alloytec engine.
I don't care what anybody says about these motors ,someone was saying on E-bay that they are a noisy and rough engine, but my granddads has 177,000 kms on it and it's equally as smooth and quiet as a good RB30,albeit more powerful.
I think they are the best six Holden has fitted since the VL's RB30.
