F.uck Sake!!'
I don't mind drivers wrapping themselves around poles if they are racing, but it really sucks when someone ran a light and killed an innocent road user.
No excuses for this type of BS on the roads, considering calder park is open these days.

Exactly right.
It's about time these idiots got given some harsher penalties. And it's be great if the genuine car enthusiasts started to change their attitudes towards this behavior and started dobbing it in.
Yet it'd be pretty clear that a lot of the guys on here would go out for these things at Princes HWY. Stupidity.

Bax the only problem is that any p plater with a nice car gets jam'd into the hoon name. Also princess highway isn't a place where people drag anymore like the old old days . It's just to meet up with friends and cruise witch 80% of the time is 10 under the speed limits . Its more just to see and enjoy what other people have spent there time and money building, BUT in saying that these wankers make it harder for the ones that just cruise ect as the police and media make us all seem like hoons

Commissioner, Simon Overland was asked in an interview this afternoon in regard to this crash if more legal drag race's were on offer, would that be a step in the right direction? And his answer 'No, that'd make it worse'.
How Simon? I don't understand. It's always said there's a time and a place. The thing is, is that there is no place and the time is now. Lets be honest Calder has had it's day.
If an elderly bloke went through the red in a Corolla, this discussion would not exist. It was 'believed' they were drag racing, and the description of the car involved... 'A red EL Falcon with a loud exhaust' Wow a loud exhaust, he must have been racing.
Lets be honest, hands up who hasn't dragged off at the lights?
To those who raised there hand at that question...
So you've dragged on the street before?
That must mean you go through red lights, chances are you don't wear a seatbelt, you're most likely on the piss, and you probably rundown the elderly for fun...
Victoria Police; Stop making a minority the majority.
Edit; Also I hope they catch the guy who caused this accident, he must feel like a big man... Y'know, running and all.

16-03-11, 17:27 GMT+10#10 I saw Bob Jane on TV, barely mumbling a sentence together... 'no ones ever been hurt here because theres nothing to hit'.
Someone died and justice needs to be given but the drivers have already been judged and wont get a fair trial anyway. The radio had people ringing up today claiming they had seen a red ford speeding hours before hand in a different suburb and it must have been the same car.
Poor bloke who died

16-03-11, 18:04 GMT+10#11 Rip to the driver
Matt you spot on there mate.
Simon overland makes my blood boil with his stipid comments. If we have a proper venue for car events and have regular events, less temptation will be there to behave stupidly on the roads for most of us. But the reality is no one will ever listen to us and it will always be the same story in victoria regarding us car enthusiasts. And princess hwy will always be the same on a friday and sat night as there is no were else for people to cruise or events for people to use and show their cars.
Hope these guys who caused the accident get the full law thrown at them. Police said they were estimated to be doing 130km/h. I mean wtf were they thinking to do that kind of speeds in between shops.
Its the same bull s h i t, everyone gets labelled as hoons again because there has been a accident with a fatality involving a car with a loud exhaust, lol. Hwy will be farked for the next couple of weeks to come. Dont drive your laser there with a exhaust otherwise you will get done because you are there to hoon on the hwy!!! the police and media need to grow up, were not in kindergarden anymore.

16-03-11, 20:39 GMT+10#12 It's easy to say a big drag complex would fix a lot of the issues but in reality it probably wouldnt. I'd use it and I'd love it but it I can't see it having a huge impact on street racing.
Honestly these guys weren't in high performance cars any way, they're probably your average joe **** head on the dole racing their mums car... would they ever use a race track? Probably not, they're the bogans who get drunk on the hill at calder park and yell abuse to everyone having a red hot go.

16-03-11, 20:58 GMT+10#13 cant see how a drag complex will fix it.. leaving calder park is as much of a show as being in it.. and drag tag when it was on? didnt stop anything, every car was sideways when it finished and would race on freeway going home

lol, your not wrong there, some people just will never learn no matter what you give them, but all i`m trying to say is that simon overland thinks it will make things worse by having a venue, and i ask the same question how? he is just talking crap. make a venue and then see what changes it brings to the hoon community. i reackon it will make a little bit of difference in most of us who look forward to take our cars to these events and do it leagally, ofcoz its not going to fix everything or cut out street racing, everyone just need to take responsability on the road and i 100% agree that street racing will never end no matter what you do. thats just the nature of human beings when your on the roads with a modified car or exhaust, lol.

Never good to here this stuff happening.-But we need more tracks open in Melb especially the south east.
Heard on the radio today the alleged "Street Racer" was a 31 year old Sri Lankan national seeking residence in Australia. --Yeah he will meet Bubba in Jail
