Hey people, Have a pretty annoying problem with my VL. Recently I managed to snap the coil mount. Now it happens to be that it isn't in fact "just a mount", as it is part of the whole damn intake chamber, and if I did want to fix it properly, I would have to replace the whole intake side. Or I could bodge it and just metalmend it... Found a different place to mount the coil later that day, near where it originally is anyway. Problem is, I now needed a longer ignition lead to spark the dizzy. Got a longer lead, have no idea what vehicle it is meant for, but it fits... Car is due to be turboed in the coming weeks, thus why I'm not too interested in fixing the whole mount problem... Whole chamber is due to be changed anyway. 4 WEEKS LATER Car is really starting to get to me. It idles, cold or warm, but has a pretty clear flutter in it. When cold, I put the foot down, it near dies, it backfires through the airbox, misses and carries on until the revs finally find they're ground. Once driving for a while, I can't really fault it apart from a massive "dose" as soon as the pedal is flattened, no doubt this is because the engine is warmed up by now. New leads, new plugs, brand new AFM that I paid a goldmine for, new dizzy, new throttle pos. sensor, new air regulator, new oxy. sensor, new AAC valve and solenoid, a new alternator, and a new ECU unit. The only thing I haven't touched yet is the fuel system, apart from fitting a secondary filter in the lstill And still, this problem persists. Really sucks crack when I'm trying to get to work at 5 in the morning and it feels and sounds like I'm trying to start a train. My question is, is it possible that my foreign ignition lead that is feeding the dizzy causing this problem? Are the leads for an RB30 a certain resistance, and are leads for different engines different in resistance from the RB30? I've got a gut feeling that I've created my own nightmare and the solution has been right in front of me the whole time... Please prove me wrong... Please. Hope you guys can shed some light on this minor but annoying dilemma. -Josh. EDIT- Am I supposed to be hearing a noise from the actual throttle body when I put my ear close by? I've only just noticed it... Sorta like a tinny and fluctuating noise...
