So if you have 2 x 12inch subs that are rated at 300w rms each What sort of amp should you use to power them? I was originally going to use an alpine 500w rms Monoblock that I bought off a guy on this forum, but since saying i'll have it he has dissapeared into the underworld. So I need an amp to run my subs what can you reccomend? How much power does my amp need to have and whats the difference if I get a higher powered one? The jaycar precision amp is only 300 bucks = @ 1 ohm mono 14.4V: 1000WRMS Compared to say an alpine monoblock that is 500wrms and $500 Thanks for your help

Haha i told the same dude i would buy them and he ran away aswell. I would be looking at an alpine one or a kicker one, both are good quality and kicker even if rated at 400wrms are individually tested and always put out more power

2 ohm speaker on 4 ohm amp, No good I reckon, will be to much load on the amp. It will most likely go into protection mode & shut down. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Take them out and wire them is series to get 8ohms. Wont be as loud but wont cook your amp.

MTX Audio do some mad gear. Look up the gothic style amps hell good. If ur after something cheap, get a 4 channel and bridge each sub across two channels. descent one will cost ya bout $200 and put out more than enough power to run ur subs. I had a similar setup in my car and was running 132.8db's with a descent tune

That puts 500 watts into each sub which should be plenty.
