Sometime last night / early this morning someone has stolen my car from my driveway. I live in West Heidelberg/Bellfield, Northern suburbs Melbourne. It is a 1988 VL Calais Marlin blue over silver, rego is XZE-488. The car is mainly stock. It wears polished calais rims with the thick removable type white walls. Has a sports exhaust. That's about all that will make it stand out, has solex locks with paint chips on drivers side door from previous attempt at break in. and the paint on the bonnet was starting to bubbule and it had a crack in it. If you have seen the car or have any information I would greatly appreciate it, I have only just bought the car so I havent had time to install an alarm, and the car had no insurance due to the fact that my sister was supposed to do it and she never did. please contact me on [phone removed] or on here, any time of the day or night with any information at all. Cheers (http://img233.imageshack.us/i/15694347463643766170684.jpg/) Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us) Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

All ended up well, not too much damage. They found it in coburg. Passenger lock got ripped off, Ignition ripped out, head unit stolen, boot lock ripped out and the rear garnish taken off (for some reason left in the back seat lol :S), the rear seat has been pulled up & bit of damage to the bonnet. Just happy to get it back, I was pretty lucky getting it back in the condition it's in. It's costing me around $500 for it all to be fixed up (including full bonnet respray), and im probably going to spend a fair bit more beefing the security up on it. Cheers everyone for all the comments Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

that's why i got rid of the door & boot locks in my vlt years ago . They were getting knocked off left , right & centre . Have a decent alarm fitting to it with a tilt sensor and 3 point immobiliser . And if you're gonna go central locking try to get the factory locking motors . Good luck with getting it back , it looks like a clean one .

wow im so glad you got it back.. that must have been the best phone call ever. Did the cops finger print the garnish and other parts of the car? could be usefull if the scum are in the database or even for future reference to help solve thefts around your area. ---------- Post added 27-06-11 at 11:18 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by RB-GEM [View Post] that's why i got rid of the door & boot locks in my vlt years ago . Do you mean you have no locks what so ever or you replaced the originals with new ones?

none at all , had the holes filled in . Looked pretty trick too . Was a pain though when the aftermarket central locking would play up

these cars are just waaaay to easy to steal, you need to get off street or garage parking (specially out west). Thats the only way they wont get nicked. No amazing alarm system is guna stop a tow truck or flat bed taking it off the street if they really want your car...

Out west? do you mean western suburbs of sydney? i'm thinking of moving to melbourne next year and im freaking out about it with all the thefts down there compared to Queensland. theres no way i could afford a place there with a double lock up garage.

I dont condone spending money on your cars, hell i love it doing it, its my life practically, but i think people should realise that these cars NEED somewhere to be kept cause there just to easy to nick. If you wana spend thousands on it and have a really nice car u should at least have somewhere (if not at your home maybe private garage, i kno its expensive but why go to trouble of spending thousands on it to see it stolen) to put it so u dont come unstuck. my cars a pig an i get etched when i stay at friends places an park mine on the road, i dont kno how some people with paintjobs can sleep properly!
