Put some photos up after it's on I'd like to see it looks nice black The intercooler came black as I bought it secondhand and was pretty dodge job so I resprayed it again with some $4 dollar paint and yeah came up mad, the pipes on the other hand I used one of those Brillo type pads and got rid of as much shine as possible, once again just sprayed it with $4 dollar paint and all good, I dont see the point in using expensive paint when it's only going to get stone chips and need touching up every now and again anyway, but yeah it looks great Quote: Originally Posted by aus880 [View Post] much better, all you need to do then is use black silicon joiners and bingo sleeper Also thinking once I tighten it all up on the car give it a quick spray, cheaper that way and it shouldn't flex too much, if it does well then I'll go and get some black joiners, can't hurt to give it a go though! wouldnt spraying paint over the core of an intercooler wreck its cooling ability? Im assuming the reason they work so well at cooling air is because the alloy cools down with the wind coming in through the front of the car, and when you spray it with ****ty paint its now got a coating of insulation all over it. Id be cautious before doing it.. just IMO.

The paint wont affect your cooler unless you pack it on.... If it were close to heat like on a wrx you would have to use a high temp paint so it wouldnt burn off... I would say that the only thing painting your intercooler will do is add a thin layer of insulation to the outside that "might" hurt the heat transfer. If it's significant or not, who can say.

Nah I thought the same too Morgz, but back to back temp logging before and after of LS motors there may of been 1/2 a deg in it. It goes on pretty thin though...

LOL how much surface area does an intercooler have?? Lets say they have 20 square meters for example, now how much of that surface area is located on the front of the cooler where the paint is applied? Thats right bugger all, and the heat transfer is still there, perhaps slightly hindered but we're talking about 1% of it's surface area. Here's mine, there's a 600x400x76 black cooler in there... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
