Hey guys,
Been trying to fire up my vl after a rebuild.
a few months ago i fired it up a few times all good.
now tryed to start it to hit the streets and ofcourse now wont start, so replaced the intank pump all sweet filling up the surge tank fine, the 044 is feeding the rail it has a new fuel filter now its not holding pressure in the rail so i tryed clamping the return line before the fuel reg, and as the car primes you can see the clamp move then once its primed it drops back down so it indicates that fuel is getting to it, but it should have enough pressure in the rail with the return lined being clamped shouldnt it? was thinking the fuel reg is farked but if its being clamped before then it shouldnt be the fuel reg if it still wont start?
the fuel line at the return end before the fuel reg isnt staying solid as a rock which would indicate that its not keeping enough pressure?
yeah its getting spark etc.
cheers

did fuel reg just then seems to be all good fuel wise, took the feed hose of pumping about 200ml of fuel into the rail so fuel isnt a issue.
i plugged nistune into the pc a few days ago, and it had a code for the neutral saftey switch, which is on as the car is cranking should it be on? I dont know if that could be stopping it from starting but i put a working one onto it a while ago. can i bypass this?
cheers
edit:
im guessing if it was the neutral saftey switch it wouldnt actually crank in the first place would it? i put a new starter motor into the car also and its started to stick a bit not sure if this could be affected by something

I don't believe it would be getting a spark if its your neutral safety switch but yes you can bypass it to check.

decided to pull out the spark plugs to check them out, and there you have it covered in soot so from running on the gtr injectors and 044 on the vlt basemap has sooted up the plugs from running so rich, so changed it on nistune and will get some new plugs tomorrow, hopefully starts no dramas

alright changed spark plugs getting spark still wont start.
throw some ideas at me, the last time i run it after a few minutes in conked out as if it didnt have fuel thought it ran out of fuel so didnt worry about starting it again. so havent run it since.

Take it to Jaustech at Holden Hill if you run out of ideas. He tunes Nistune. He will sort it out.
If you go there tell Peter i sent you. He'll look after you!

yeah thanks mate,
i got locky coming around in a few days to check over the car with me.
my mate thats tuning it for me and built the engine is away working so if we cant get it sorted ill get him to go over it when he gets back.
thanks for that mate.

Nothing to do with the safety switch, it will won't crank at all if its engaged.

10-02-11, 20:23 GMT+10#11 Locky had a look at it today his not sure why it won't start either. It's a rebuilt engine so compression should be fine it hasn't been reved over 3k or put into gear. Injectors are getting power too. So yea no idea

10-02-11, 21:05 GMT+10#12 have u put a fuel pressure gauge on it ? also checked timing timing ?? im thinking its something to do with how it cut out last time you ran it though by the sounds of it..
does it just crank or does it crank and try to start but wont. have have the injectors been tested ? could be leaking internally and flooding it with fuel.

Sure you got the fuel lines the correct way around?
Fuel is fed directly to the rail, the reg then opens or closes to maintain pressure and any fuel not needed is returned to the tank. So between the 044 and the reg there will be around 40psi, while after the reg there will be close to 0psi as the return line is open in the tank.

Nope, you get no spark and no injector pulse because the ecu doesn't get a reference signal therefore has no idea when to fire the coil or injectors.
Are the injectors pulsing? Hold a long screwdriver against an injector and your ear....should be a distinct 'click, click, click'.
