hey guys, went down to vicroads this morning to register my car. it has been unregistered since 2007 so i did the usual; got my roady, receipt and booked an appointment to show it to vicroads to sign it off. assuming it would all pass.... the lady then said your car is stolen and i kinda freaked... apparenty the number on the passenger side strut tower which is engraved in, is the vin. i thought that the vin was on the metal plates on the top of your firewall or whatever you want to call it.. i typed it into the CT database Vin checker and the number on the strut tower didnt register but the one on the firewall did... however the lady at vic roads insisted that the vin is the nummber engraved in the strut top and that it didnt match the engine. therefore it was a stolen chassis..(which was stolen in QLD in '99 apparently) i called the guy i bought it off and he said the thing has never been to qld....or hes bull****ting. so now my dillema is i have to wait till friday (i hope) for the queensland RTA to ring me to clear my vehicle from its stolen status and therefore make it mine. does it seem odd to anyone else? i also had to see the police and they had to try and track it down, which ended up me sitting in mill park police station for 2 hours on my phone anyone have this happen? and if it has, is there a good chance il get a call in 48 hours? i really wanna drive my car

it was his father in laws and hes had it since new. and as far as this guys known it hasnt been to queenland as long as hes had it. so im thinking theyve possible stuffed up somewhere... or it was stolen and not cleared from the Qld authorities... i hope anyway
