Just like to congratz Rob Trajkovski owner of VL 3 747 an absolute weapon of a street car on a jaw dropping 9.73 @ 139 at calder park on the 22/1/11 the jaw dropping part about this time is that the car remains a standard motor , and runs a 3 speed trimatic with no transbrake so lots of handbrake use to keep the monster at the line ...
This must be some sort of record as last i heard the fastest standard motor vl was a 9.8 not 100% sure on the details but ive always been a fan of the standard RB30et and to see Robs vl get the standard motor to these figures has really raised the bar in how strong these engines are .
To date the car has had over 30 passes and plenty of street action and is still going strong .
The car has cast pistons (gen.) std rods , sump, oil pump, head , ports, valves, head gasket , head studs apart from updated camshaft and valve springs but as we all know the camshaft does not contribute to the strength of the motor ."its all bolt ons "
there is a NO TRANSBRAKE trimatic this doesnt stop VL 3 747 coming out of the hole with 1.48 60 foot time
speaking with rob at calder he is planning to update the trans , turbo , waste gate and fuel system but leave the motor the way it .... i cant wait to see what it will run then.
Once again congratz mate on a PB of 9.73 alot of hard work just paid off ..
and the point has been proven that forged pistons , rods and transbrakes arnt always needed to go into the 9 sec zone ....

congratz rob vl3747 and to everyone involved, unbelieveble effort . seen this pass at the true blue at calder yesterday car looked very strong and sounded tuff, still looks like its got more in it and looked like a hand full down the track!!. so does this mean that it is the fastest vl with a standard motor and no transbrake??. im pretty sure that it is!!!
cant wait to see it at calder again!!!

Well done Rob Trajkovski congrats on new bp
I must hand it too ya mate this car is putting a lot of red faces on some VLT's onwers who have fully built engines trans brake auto's and bigger turbochargers comparing to your set with std internals only bolt on's a To4Z turbo and non-trans brake trimatic. Next meeting hopefully you no don't hit rev limiter between 1st to 2nd gear change and get into top gear earlier I sure your ET and MPH will improve again. Well done Mate

25-01-11, 20:25 GMT+10#12 Awesome effort for no transbrake!!!, the rest of it is dribble and doesn't prove much at all, casties last if they don't detonate and the motor hasn't done 5 billion km,and standard rods will go faster than 138mph and have... its all about the revs not horsepower, thats what puts the most load on a conrod!. The only reason these stock motors fail is they have all done 300 plus thousand now and so many hektik ****s have run them into the absolute ground.
What makes it cool for me, is this car is a bit of a vl legacy, its been around forever hasn't it, and has always been tough as, good to see the old girl still flexing its muscles after all these yrs.
cheers

25-01-11, 23:29 GMT+10#14 Is that in a VL? I know of a torana was using standard rods well into the 9s but that doesnt count because its lighter than a 4 door VL isnt.. so it would need less HP to run the MPH. The standard rods bend around 430rwkw in whatever car your using.. they're metal, they fatigue and they WILL eventually bend.
Nice work on the time btw.

25-01-11, 23:35 GMT+10#15 Very well done. Glad to see more and more stock Motors going faster.
I've always wanted to go stock n/a bottom end and head using only arp head bolts and a decent cam and go for 400rwkw. One day I'll get there and hopefully join in on the 9sec 1/4's
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Sorry mate must correct u acker never run faster than 142/143 mph. These two cars cant be compaired due too the fact that acker has a fully built forgded engine, gt42 1000hp turbo and a transbrake auto.

26-01-11, 13:14 GMT+10#19 Acker ran 9.94 at 152mph on a standard bottom end according to him,
152mph is gigantic power!
