Hey guys I've had the 044 fuel pump for a while now and I only just found out that it is bad for it if the dampner is there. So I removed it and now its just the pump. Its all in the standard position. But now it is louder than before. Why? It wasnt like this before. I can even hear it in the cabin while driving. I'm worried il get an epa, plus its just doing my head in.

There's 3 things underneath your plenum. Fuel regulator- Surge tank P.R. solenoid control valve Near your fuel tanks there's- Fuel pump Fuel dampener Fuel Filter So which one did you remove? Fuel regulator?

sorry man, i should edit the 1st post. it was the dampener. should i put anything in its place? the hose goes straight from the pump the the metal piping where as before it was the pump, dampner and then the piping. the filter is still there.

ok yea i've been told you don't really need that fuel dampener, i've taken mine out, i took it out at the same time i put my 044 in so can't tell ya if there was any difference in loudness, but yea 044's are known to be loud. wouldn't worry about it too much man unless its really annoying you, you could try and muffle it somehow, maybe wrap some sound deadening around it? have you got that rubber ring around it? coz that's meant to weaken the vibration/noise a little.

yeah i bought the bracket for it. i dont get why removing the damperner would make it louder but, it was ok before. i guess thats why its called a dampener. EPA incoming.

It could be cavitating or it could just be an 044.. they are pretty loud as per a rule. If you want it quiet, use a surge tank and mount it internally.

Check to see if your internal pump is working, might be dead causing 044 to work overtime

If its in the standard position did you remove all the rubber insulaton/surround off the fuel mount. That rubber makes the fuel pump quieter. See how this after market bracket has the rubber surround. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
