i've never posted in this section (because ive never owned another car apart from a vl ) but im curious on peoples thoughts i could get a pretty neat and tidy 96 VS SS for about 6500 or i could go a VR Senator for 6990, but the senator could probably use some paint, aircon regas, and a new exhaust id prefer a car that i dont have to worry about doing anything to get it up to scratch discuss Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Not having to do work on a car is a good thing... just get in and enjoy. I'd probably do that. If you feel like doing some work though I'd always drop back a year or two to get a higher model car as it will always be worth more (VR senator over VS SS) I ended up getting the mrs a super tidy VR Caprice (Leather, 5.0 etc) for what you would pay for a VS Statesman (No Caprice options) and the caprice is worth more than the later model statesman plus its a nicer car.

VZ R8 wheels look good on a VR-VS Series Commodores and there not very common either... I was going to put a set on my VS Senator when I had it but couldnt find a set There 19" aswell so they will ride nicely... Trust me I had 20's and theymay look nice but they ride like crap. go the ss, an old senator is an old hsv with poor security and high theft rates, plus harder to resell imho hsv buyers get really picky

I made that mistake with the vl. I drove the ss but it needs a new windscreen. I could splurge and get a vx ss instead Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
