After a suitable driveshaft for my VK LS1 conversion,
The one that came with the car was a 4cylinder manual driveshaft, front yoke spline is too small.
Are the VK & VL driveshafts the same dimensions ?
Is there a stronger factory version ie is the turbo/v8 shaft stronger then the rest or are they all the same ?
What sort of power will a factory drveshft handle ? am i better off just getting a custom heavy duty driveshaft made..........
what came off the LS1? modify that?
drive shaft loops required for any changes/repower?
think the drive sharfts are all the same diameter
as for length they vary

The VX driveshaft uses rubber doughnut instead of uni's not really what i'm after.
they are all the same diameter, so there is no factory model that is stronger then the others.................
Yes I will be adding two driveshaft loops for certing.
vl turbo driveshafts are bigger as the yokes are bigger, just like in the 25t nissan boxes, depending on how low you are planing to go with the car i would say mabye use a 25t 2 piece driveshaft with the ls1 yoke,as you might have clearence issues with the 1 piece, the driveshaft shouldnt be too hard to find, and like you said your going to have to make loops for it anyway.thats my suggestion anyway, these guys have a good rep,

Cheers
Had herd the one peice driveshafts could be an issue with lowered cars.
so anyone got a 25t 2 piece driveshaft

Can recommend the guy that Danny mentioned. Real down to earth fulla, and real knowledgeable, so go and have a yarn to him. Well priced too.
Dunno about one piece shafts not being suitable for lowered cars, but I think they are noisier and more prone to vibrations, which is why they aren't used in road cars.
You will need two drive shaft loops - if the VK floor plan is anything like the VL one, they can be a pain to fit. The rear one isn't too bad, but I should post some pics of how I did mine. I just used a couple of $50 off of Trade Me and modified them. Some cert guys like a piece of plate on the inside of the car too.
OK cheers guys.
I made two driveshaft loops on the VX , used 50mm peice of 125 x 5mm pipe and welded some mounting plates to it, 2 bolts per side and plates inside car with the bolt heads tacked on to make removal easier.
The front was a pain, seat rails were just in the wrong place

Front driveshaft loop:
made entirely from one Trade Me $50 loop. No welding, only cutting and bolting! The only bolts you need to buy are the ones to secure the loop to the car. Any questions, just ask.

Haha, I never said it was an original idea!!! Pretty sure I asked you to post pics of your loop, and this is what I came up with after seeing them. I don't have access to a welder/can't weld, so this is what I came up with. Bolts are all 8.8s, so she's nice and strong. Had to bolt it through the trans tunnel for the cert guy to pass it tho. There is bugger all flat floor plan/space on the front of the VL, so this is the best way to do it. Cheers!
