It was for sale on here before:
http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showth...ghlight=vl+hdt (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=125274&highlight=vl+hdt)
I recognised it straight away as it used to be Dave Budd's car (The Brock on here).
Dave did all the original work to it (copy and paste from the above post):
"Pretty sure this my old car from some years ago, (was in Street COmmodores in about 1999 or something), use to have Momo Status' on it..
The wheel and kit are genuine; but it's not a HDT built car, but was definately a genuine Calais turbo; I bought it off the original owner from Esperance in about 1996 I think. Sold it to a guy called Damian in about 1999. I put the kit on, painted it, did box, headwork zorst etc...
Car never gave me any problems, but that was some years ago... !!! "
Going by what Dave says, it is a genuine VLCT but the genuine LE kit was not factory fitted etc, he put it on after he got the car.

Good luck with the project
At least on that thread there is a bit of history together for you, as in owners etc.

21-11-10, 13:30 GMT+10#11 wow!! didnt know this was still around... it would be great to see it restored to its former glory. i still have the street commodore mag somewhere with it in.
must admit that this calais was the one that started my love affair with the vlct's, went for many a drive in it around 97 -98 while on my P's and loved it. as i recall it had the momo 17"s on it which was a HUGE rim back then. it also had water injection and made 221 rwheelhp and even won some dyno comps with that believe it or not intercoolers where sooo expensive back then
was sold witout the rims or the stereo for quite an impressive sum as i remember. had some serious suspension in it also (sway bars, strut brace etc etc) wonder if its all still there?
anyway enough reminising good luck with it mate it was an awesome car
on a side note does dave budd (the original owner) come on here anymore?

21-11-10, 15:32 GMT+10#13 I remember when Dave forst got this car. It was standard white over silver and had the obligatory "country" style aluminium skirts down the sides and on the rear bumper. They didn't last long!!!
We wondered why the drivers side rear window never worked, so one day we took the door trim off to discover there was no motor in there, just a piece of wood holding the glass up!!!! dodgy!!!!
John Faroane at (then) ROM automotives put a cam in it along with the water injection and as mentioned, Dave sourced a genuine LE kit from HDT in sydney which was all fitted and the car repainted by a panel beater down in Fremantle.
As also mentioned, it had the 17 Momo status wheels on. At one stage it wore the Aero's off my old Group 3 with the flush fitting caps which looked really good too.
The auto got built twice as the first time they didn't builf it strong enough so it was slipping gears still but to the dudes credit, he fixed it all up and the box was mint after that.

21-11-10, 20:59 GMT+10#16 that would explain why the LE front lip isn't as neat a fit as thet was spot on when fitted, you can see it bows up a little in the middle now.
