The last time i brought over a vehicle from interstate to Adelaide i just needed to take it to local police station in victor because of address and they did ID check to get registered in SA.
Is this still the case?
Would it help to purchase a car with RWC or not?
Thanks!

Doesn't matter if it has RWC or not, just peace of mind for you that nothing else is wrong with it although plenty of garages give dodgy RWCs. Last time I brought in a car from interstate they didnt even want to see the NSW rego papers to prove i was the new owner. I know that if you go to regency they might refuse to register the vehicle if its modified. If you buy I car in Victoria I think they have to keep the numberplates so that might cause a hassle.

If you leave in a area away from adelaide you just take it to the cop shop and they check the vin and engine number and then you can register it here.

They will obviously check the adress on your liscence so I doubt going country etc will work. Get the rw for piece of mind.

Just ring your local police station. More than likely they will send you to Lonsdale for inspection but who knows?

with registering a vehicle from interstate, the main thing that changes whats going to happen is if the vehicle is still registered interstate or not.
1) if the vehicle is registered interstate, its a simple transfer, filling a new owner registration form (big green form - MR1), paying stamp duty and transfer.
2) if the vehicle is unregistered interstate, then the only difference to the above is a identity inspection is required, and its $54 extra.
moral; make sure the vehicle is registered interstate.
any more questions let me know, im working down at motor reg, so can find out anything you need.

you still have to get it checked if its registered i thought, if you own the vehicle interstate and go to a different state then its just a transfer but if you are changing owners interstate you have to get it checked.

Boywonder, thats not true, every caar coming bought from interstate requires an identity check which can quickly turn into a full inspection.
Roadworthy wont hold any weight in SA what so ever but quite often the guy selling it interstate is required to obtain one prior to sale...
If youre buying from QLD, make sure the car has a Compliance Plate, not a blue Mod plate or anything else...I believe they will accept the new Purple ones here now...
Still havent got round to taking mine for inspection, have changed everything to stock but been waiting to put bay back to together.

Read what I wrote above...if you dont wanna hear it, dont ask!
They will look over it, fact...you need to make it look as stock as possible, so dummy up an air-flow meter, put the stock airbox back on and cross over pipe etc, raise it up, tint off if it has it...etc etc etc....
