Hey guys, recently converted to Gas and was using Petrol for the first few seconds to start the car up. Recently got it tuned for straight gas and when you turn the key, it fires up for a second like it revs to 1500rpm and then just dies from there as if its starved of Gas, I can start it up after that but it does take a few seconds of cranking sometimes and it will kick over. A mate said this has to do with the converter being so far away from the T/B. My Theory was there is a little bit of Gas in the Converter and when you kick it over it starts the car up but the converter doesnt convert it fast enough to keep it going. Any tips you guys can offer? Should I take it back and demand it be retuned, I have noticed it has lost power now that its on Straight Gas rather than Dual Fuel which makes no sense to me. Cheers guys. PS: Car is a stock standard N/A with Sprintgas setup. ---------- Post added 26-10-10 at 00:26 ---------- Also any time I give the car a bit of a hard drive, floor it around a corner or roundabout, not losing traction but foot to the floor, next time I pull over the car stinks of Gas and which we're all used too, smells like egg, not pleasant for the passengers. I know this will probably always happen but I was hoping the new tune for straight gas would help this to disappear a bit more as it should burn it a bit better, seems not? Any ideas?

mine was the same, apparently the gas lines empty over night and u have to prime them directly from the convertor i never bothered, used to just give it a few extra cranks and bobs ur uncle and get used to the smell of lpg in the car, its not gonna go away after the tune

I used to have a gas car. Every time I went to start it I would flick the key to ON a few times and prime the system before cranking... this resulted in it starting quicker as gas was up to the engine, not just the convertor. Over night the gas will seep out between convertor and TB.

Okay well cheers guys that solves that, I guess I'll just have to deal with it for the time being until I sort something else out when the turbo goes on. Lastly any idea why it's lost power? Should I go back and ask him to re-do it and possibly advance the timing? I expected to gain power going from Dual Fuel to Straight Gas but I guess not?

Bloke at Howe automotive in daylesford is a gas research specialist and recommended a primer kit for the converter as i have the same problem, its $46 bucks for the kit direct from gas research to suit the B2 converter.
