I read an article awhile back about upgrading the pads on standard VL/VLT Front Brakes & had a day off work today so thought Id try it...
VL Pad on the top
You can see the friction area is much bigger...more friction means better braking
Pads are the same width and once modified the same height to fit inside the caliper perfectly...Only difference are the tabs at each end.
Pretty much file the paint off at each end so they can slide in the caliper cradle.
And file (bench grinder is faster) the tabs so they are same as the VL Pad.
Chuck some paint on the parts youve shaved down and your done
You can see the standard pads leave a small lip around the disc that is unused.
And a huge lip on the inside which isnt used either.
The new pad takes up almost all of the unused disc.
And fits perfectly on the inside (make sure you dont file too much of the tab off or it will hit on the hub)
Done
I would normally get the discs machined, but no-one is around at 10pm
Before I forget, the normal VL front pads are DB1085 & the bigger pads are DB1023 (supposed to be for and old kingswood) lol
Might be of use to someone

The article I read was actually for VLT Brakes (which are the same as the VS Finned Calipers)
Found it...

It will still leave a small lip around the inside as the rotors are slightly bigger than non-turbo, but should still work good.
