hey guys the head might be getting removed from my motor soon because there is something going on in there that Greg or John at hi tech cant really figure out. they are going to have a bit more of a look tomorrow but it doesn't sound promising. So im wondering if its worth getting anything done to the head while its off? Im not wanting to spend alot but if there is something worth doing that wont cost me heaps ill probably do it. cheers matt p.s if you could maybe suggest somewhere to get the work done and even a rough price if anyone has had the work done before.

u could easily spend $500 to 5k on head work but like tyson said unless u are going to make big power it would almost be a waste ...i would spent the money on injectors or a hiflow or maybe a ecu or plenum ( dont know whats done to the car ) so u could spend your money in better ways because unless u have a gt30 or bigger u wont really have enough flow to warrent getting your head done . but in saying that it all healps in the long run . if that makes sence .. good luck .. ps tell greg to get a hair cut as he looks like a out of work hippy .

The TR43i are the older stuff. have a look at their ATR43 series. Lot of people on SAU are using it with very good results. or just get them to high flow your stock turbo.

just hiflo your t3 put some boost thru it,buy the way your talking you dont have much of a budget and sounds like the cheapest way possible is the best way for you. you cant expect great stuff without paying for it!!!. id suggest u get a better budget or just live with what u have to spend.

well mine has fair bit of shaft play apparently so it would probably need to be rebuilt aswell as hiflowed adelaide turbo sevices on marion road quoted me $1650 or $1250 just to rebuild it so it seems a better idea to get one from hypergear maybe.

if thats what they want to charge then id suggest hyper gear too or a second hand one??? if its health can be proven.

yeah i can put mine back on for a while they said it will be fine but best to start looking for one now so i figured id try to get one now while its all of the car so i dont have to pull it off in a month. would the ATR43 fit straight on suit the standard dump pipe and stuff??

I got my turbo rebuilt and hi flowed with a h/d thrust bearing for $900 ($750 without the h/d bearing) I suggest ringing MTQ at regency, got mine done last yr still goes hard and comes with a 2yr warranty

Ever thought about rebuilding yours yourself? The kits are $90 off ebay and are pretty easy to do. Good thread in the technical article section.

haha^^ cheers mate. yeah im willing to give rebuilding it a shot but doesnt it have to be balanced and stuff?? plus im not to sure of the condition of the rear wheel in the turbo cos a small stone went through it. haha

yes it will have to be balanced and they can even fin the blades aswell plus put on the bigger wheel and whatever machining that is needed so it doesnt make any contact with the housing
