Decent but nothing special. Depends on what you are aiming to achieve and how much you want to spend. Car audio can have no limitations it seems. Whatever you do decide on best advice would be to pay particular attention to the installation more so than the equipment you use. Good speakers in a well thought out and thorough install will sound better than premiem speakers installed poorly.

There is alot to consider. All out as in bass head SPL machine or focus on sound quality as highest priority.

Common, everyone with a VL has a budget of some kind? SPL I dont follow, so couldnt really offer sound advice. However if your looking for a nice quality Music system that goes loud, I can suggest the below to start. Head units, theres obvious Alpine, pioneer that make good source units. You probably need to look at more functionality when deciding on head unit. Amps. Jl Audio Slash are good value for money, I like the older V12 model Alpines aswell. There are plenty other options but these I am familiar with. Speakers. Are a personal choice, what sounds good to me may not appeal to you at all. Good brands to start looking at. Dynaudio, Jl audio, Boston, Focal, Image dynamics, MB Quart etc. Subs that I am familiar with that will play accurately and will go low and loud. . Image dynamics IDMAX, W7-W6 Jl Audio in this order. This gear isnt really focused at SPL but good all round music system. Installed and setup correctly will play loud enough for most and sound great doing it.

I am by no means trying to step on any toes when I say this how ever Alpine are no longer the be all and end all when it comes to great decks. Just because something is cheaper doesn't necessarily make it worse. Option Audio stuff isn't that bad I had a $100 sub in my old car and that was pretty good how ever I had a good amp powering it as well. There's no point going cheap on an amplifier or amplifiers depending on what the case may be as proved by my previous install. $100 sub + $350 amp = good. Rather then getting a variety of options from a forum that will do nothing but confuse you your better off going down to your local car audio place and having a chat with them. That way you can hear the product and also see the type of work that they do and usually they will give you a decent discount if you buy more then one part of the sound equation. Every one has there personal opinions on brands and a lot of people only go off hearsay rather then personal experience so just be careful with your decision as at the end of the day only you know what you like. Here's an interesting link to an Option Audio demo car. Surely can't be that bad. Option Audio demo car (http://www.teamoa.com.au/austin-1800-spl.php)

click here to have a look at my last system. (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=157636&highlight=sirollers+latest+install) it is my 3rd large build in my own car and about the 10th big build i have done as mymates and i get together and do these in a weekend. the aim - i had some good components and more than enough bass but i wanted a tighter system with a better install (mounts / deadening / tidyer wiring etc.) this install is what i call a street setup which to me means simple stock positions, functional and tidy with heaps of spl for dance music or hip hop but also a very reasonable sq. the build cost me maybe 2g in parts. pretty cheap really. its also very achievable esp if properly planned and the car can be kept on the road during the build. check out www.mobileelectronicsaustralia.com.au (http://www.mobileelectronicsaustralia.com.au) forinspiration, tech threads and cheap second hand goodies. my sub and mono cost me 600 all up! ---------- Post added 29-12-10 at 23:00 ---------- btw best idea is to take a cd and tour some hifi stores looking at brands and what is offered in your pricerange. i foundin my range i liked the mb quarts over herts, momo polk, alpine and clarion and pioneer, anything jb had to offer and a few other brands aswell. lesson learned - i wouldn't touch anything from pioneer / alpine / clarion. for the money you sopend on their higher models you can buy much better. and as for option audio i have only encountered them in store and would also say your money is better spent elsewhere.

Saw a lot of this option audio stuff in autobarn the other day and their rep was actually in the store so I had a chat to him. Company has only been around for 5 years, started in brisbane. There stuff is pretty ****ing cheap and goes well against other stuff in its market. Eg. Cadence, JVC, Sony, Pioneer. But you cant compare it to Boston Acoustics, Alpine etc. It's in that low end market. I like the look of there slim 12inch subs, that will fit easily behind seats in a ute, and take up stuff all room in a wagon boot. And they pump out a bit of power these ones below are 350wRMS each. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
