Howsit going I just went to go to a job interview but the wagon wont start. Awesome timing there ... I turned the key - heard fuel pump whine - went to start and the starter flicked over once and then heard that clicking sound as if battery was flat. I dont have anything to check the voltage but the battery has one of those voltage led indercators which is still bright as usaul. So, I tried starting again - heard fp whine then went to start and more clicking. Opened bonnet and heard nearly the same clicking sound coming from the battery (I think) Now nothing happens - no dash lights no nothing. Ive checked all the fuses in the engine bay but where are the others in cabin ? All I can find is the panel near the steering wheel but it just has some computer looking thing in there.. lol.. Also checked for a loose earth cable.. What else can I try ? thanks yall Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

The computer looking thingy is for an auto trans. Is the car in Park, neutral? Have you swapped the battery? Does the radio come on? The clicking is probably a relay, do you have an alarm?

cars a factory manual trans.. I havnt tried another battery but will do when I have a oppertunity. Ah yes there are a bunch of relays next to the battery.. no alarm either. Will check if radio comes on soon - will update. thanks mate EDIT: ok so now I have dash lights again and radio does light up but when I turned it on it only worked for 3 secs before I lost dash lights again. So - guess ill try another battery when someone comes over with one when ever that will be I dont know lol.. will try dig out volt meter SECOND EDIT: ok so I found a volt meter (first place I looked haa) and bat is measuring 12.7V

Check all your battery terminals are tight. Check the fat wire running from battery to starter motor - make sure the nut on the starter end is tight, and none of the wires on the starter are loose. So your car is definitely factory manual?

Get a multimeter on it id say the battery would be putting out enough current to light your led light up but not start the engine. it wont hurt to try jump starting it or charging the battery

And yeah the led is green which should mean normal. Then changes colour when getting down on V but I do agree with you. thx

If your running a computer under the dash, its not a factory manual.

Yup factory auto. Check all the things I mentioned before, if that doesn't work, try this: Down by the battery, there is a couple of relays mounted onto the inner guard. You'll see one relay which has 2 purple wires going into it. (the other to wires going into it are light green from memory). Cut the 2 purple wires off from the relay, strip a bit of the insulation off, and join them together. Then see if the car starts.

i have a feeling its the battery although the battery has 12.7 v it could still be stuffed you need to do a load test on the battery take it to your local auto electrician and ask them if they can check it for you otherwise just chuck another battery in and see if it starts

if ite been converted to manual, check the plug that used to goto the auto in the engine bay, it should have 2 wires shorted for the inhibitor switch. that will stop it starting

it may have 12.7 volts at rest but what is it under load? even poked batteries can still hold a surface charge. load test the battery, anything less than 9v with the load on and its junk.

well I am really confuzzled.. I threw the original battery back in to try roll start (as I dont have a new one yet) and thought I would try turning it over first and it started. I drove it to my mates workshop where they did a load test that came up fine. was still well in the 'green zone' of the meter. The alternators working normal and we checked for loose cables too

Check the lead going onto your alternator is tight, when mine came off I had power though the car for a bit then it would die. Took me for ever to find out what it eventually was. I heard small clicking sounds too, it was the lead sparking across.
