What can you expect to happen if you get pulled over in a turbo, v8 or modified car while on your provisional license?. What do the cops look for?. I heard some cops can still give you a defect sticker even if you have a permit for the modification?. thanks travis

They look for a turbo or a V8, because you're on your Ps.

i think its 3 or 6 points and a fine, my bro got done about a year ago. and as said, P plates + turbo/v8 is what they're looking for obviously.

Just spray everything black, (cooler, turbo, ex manifold, piping etc.) take all the turbo badges off, don't have a dose pipe, keep it on standard wheels, don't have your cooler hanging bellow the front bar & don't drive like an idiot. You'll be fine if you're polite & respect the police/law.

i was just about to turbo my car, then the h/way patrol pulled me over on the freeway for no reason and chekd the engine, lol he even told me to open the bonnet because he said he didnt want to break anything, but he saw my pod and p plates on the inside and let me off with a warning to change em back to standard. he just gave me a lecture for like 20 mins and then let me of coz i wasnt being a smartass or anything,, but can they really tel if you have a turbo if its like a low mount?? u can put a heat shield over the top of the manifold and hide it but will they ask why its there?? i mean theyre cops, not mechanics

this has been covered numerous times in the NSW section. as soon as they pop the bonnet most cops with half a brain could work out its turbo even when its low mounted. if you wanna do it. it will depend on where you live to see where you get pulled over. how your drive. how done up the car is... i drove a turbo on my p's for over a year, but that was only driving it once or twice a week with it looking stock. as soon as i put 20's, custom plates and turbo badge on the back i constantly get pulled over i know people who did and still do drive turbo's on their p's. it all comes down to how lucky you are

well said Patch and yes TrickyM you can still get a defect. having a plate means little as you could simply mod the car further and illegally
